EBOGGS Masters
Now graced by our very own "Green Jacket" donated by James Jessemey & modelled here by previous winner, Chris Boyce, the masters is a true test of guts and determination - and that's just to get the jacket on! Chris is also holding the trophy!
Ladies Trophy
The Ladies Trophy should be in the possession of Joanna Aumayer at present but has been on the missing list of late. Recently discovered in the possession of John McMonagle, it now rests in the hands of this year's winner! (see Matchplay Trophy!)
EBOGGS Open
One of two current 36 hole competitions, The Open is usually the event that attracts most members in a season. Must be something to do with those "Open Dreams" of marching up the 18th on the last round, gloriously clear of the field, crowd cheering.....or in our case knowing that the bar is nearly in reach!
Matchplay Trophy
On the missing list for a few years, the Matchplay Trophy turned up on top of one of John McMonagle's cupboards. Last seen publicly, I presume, when he won it in 2003!
Jubilee Trophy
Originally known as the Captains Prize and first played for in 1971, its name was changed because of the type of clips that hold the trophy together.
Ruddle Trophy
The Ruddle trophy was donated by Fred Ruddle and is presented to the member who has attended all the meetings and performed well throughout the season. An appearance point is awarded for each appearance plus three points for a win, two points for a second and one point for a third.
Clayton Bowl
Named after the headmaster of the school the bowl's claim to fame is that it's the only Ebog Golf Trophy won by me!
Scratch Trophy
Awarded to the player who has achieved the best 3 combined scratch scores for the season. Invariably goes to the best golfer!
EBOGGS Classic
The newest trophy, joining our collection when first played for in 1996 when a sixth event was added to our calendar. I think it was donated by Rick George but maybe someone can advise me on that?
Foxes Trophy
Awarded to the player who has achieved the best 3 combined scratch scores for the season in the 12 to 18 handicap area.
Weekend Trophy
Another two round trophy, this has recently returned to the format of being played over two days of a weekend - a mistake really, since hardly anyone is capable of seeing the ball on the morning of the second round, let alone hitting it! Recent winners have been known to sneak off to bed early so as to be more sober than the rest.
Rabbits Trophy
Awarded to the player who has achieved the best 3 combined scratch scores for the season in the 19 plus handicap area.
Veterans Trophy
Played for by our elder statesmen who must be over the age of 65 on the 1st April of the current season. Following recent attempts by younger members trying to win something by claiming they look older (Patel & Thorn) birth certificates must now be presented prior to collecting this trophy.
