STATISTICS FOR THE SEASON

HANDICAPPING - The handicapping is based on the following basic rules.

1) The handicap you play off for society events will be the lower of your society handicap or club handicap (If you have one).

2) You must submit 3 cards from society competition rounds (to enable a society handicap to be assessed) before you are eligible to win a monthly event. This is regardless of whether or not you have a club handicap and directly relates to new members having to play 3 events to qualify.

3) Your society handicap is then assessed on the best 3 performances from your last 6 appearances (or 4 or 5 until you have completed 6).

4) If you are a member of a golf club you must notify the society secretary of any handicap changes.

5) The Secretary will amend the handicap list following completion of each monthly event.

The current list of club and society handicaps is up to date following the Bournemouth trip and is available by clicking here.

TRIANGLE TROPHY & POINTS SYSTEM

The Triangle trophy is the competition played at the end of each season by ourselves, Old Minchendenians & Old Tollingtonians.

This is played in teams of twelve and our team is selected by a points qualification system for the top ten qualifiers, plus the captain plus the captains "wild card" choice. The points are awarded for finishing position at each of the monthly events starting with 20 points for 1st, 19 for 2nd, 18 for 3rd etc. In the event of a tie for position, count back is NOT taken into account. ie Joint 1st gets 20 points each, 3rd gets 18 and so on.

The more you play, the more chance you have of getting up the table and into the team, so it also serves as a reward for consistent turn out as well as performance. Next year (2010) Tollingtonians will be hosts and the match will be played at Potters Bar GC on Friday 8th October.

The current points table is available by clicking here.

SUMMER SINGLES

The Summer Singles is a matchplay competition (at 3/4 handicap difference) played across the summer and hopefully completed before the end of our season in September. The draw for the competition normally takes place after dinner at the first event of the season. The winner for 2009 was Sam Patel.
